You'll remember
the coffee.
Common is a specialty coffee bar on the corner of Oxford and Pembroke, across the road from Epping station. Beans from Made of Many and a rotating cast of the country's best roasters. Espresso and batch brew, poured with care.
It's the corner you already
walk past. Stop.
Plywood benches. A navy tiled wall. A black counter that Dan runs from open to close. Common is small on purpose. There's room for the regulars, the prams, the before-work rush and the people who just moved into the towers up the road.
You don't need to know coffee to drink here. You'll leave knowing a little more than you did. That's the deal. It's a common room for Epping, held to an uncommon standard.
The coffee is the
whole point.
Two ways to drink it. Espresso, pulled tight and balanced, the flat white you set your morning by. And filter, brewed batch on the Moccamaster. That's the way we most like to drink it ourselves.
The house bar
Milk and black, dialled in every morning and pulled the same way every time. No autopilot.
Batch on the Moccamaster
Clean, honest filter brewed by the jug. The clearest window into what the roaster did right.
Oat, soy & almond
Plant milks always on, poured with the same care as full cream. However you take it, it's right.
No kitchen, no fuss. A short list of toasties and simple plates when you're hungry. The coffee is the reason you came.
Great coffee is made
by many hands.
Our house roaster is Made of Many, a Sydney importer and roaster who works directly with small producers and co-ops. Thoughtfully sourced microlots, fully traceable, roasted to let each origin speak for itself.
Alongside them we pour guests from the best in the country, names like Mecca and Market Lane. When something exceptional lands, it goes straight on the bar. Quality starts a long way from Epping. We just finish the job.
"It takes many people to bring a good coffee to life."
